The town of Andresito (General Belgrano Department, Misiones province) was born at the end of 1970 and from a government ordinance that established the creation of a colony (or settlement) on lands that, until then, had been occupied by illegal immigrants from the neighboring country. In order to achieve this, lots were given to families who agreed to settle in the place and who were incentivized with a permit to plant up to 20 hectares of yerba mate.Thanks to the wealth of the land, the yerbatales prospered quickly, but when harvest time came and there was no processing plant in the area, the producers decided to create Cooperativa Yerbatera Andresito and found the first drying room in the area. The constituent assembly was held in August 1983 in the presence of 92 producers.
