Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), is an aromatic plant of the labiatae family, which reaches between 15 and 30 cm. in height. It has opposite lanceolate leaves, with rolled edges and densely hairy. Its flowers are tiny, grouped in very dense clusters, whitish or pink in color.
The whole plant gives off a strong aroma as it is provided with essential glands. It is a common spice in the cuisine of the Mediterranean basin, used to flavor meats, soups and stews. It is also widely used in Caribbean cuisine and Middle Eastern cuisine.
