The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest arts festival in the world and takes place every August for three weeks in the capital of Scotland. Since its humble beginnings in 1947, when a handful of companies that had not been invited to appear at the opening of the Edinburgh International Festival decided to take the stage anyway, the Fringe has grown to become the largest arts festival in the world. It has spawned copycat acts everywhere from Dublin to New York, but nowhere has it captured the heady exuberance and enormous diversity of Scotland's capital in August.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is completely open access. The event takes place from 4-28 August 2023 it is proud to include in its program anyone with a story to tell and a place willing to host it.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe makes it possible to see theater, comedy, dance, circus, cabaret, children's shows, physical theater, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events at the same festival.

It is a magnet for creative producers, the industry and the media as it is the largest and most dynamic international art market in the world.
