Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

11/15/2021

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition in the world. Their goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. FAO was founded in October 1945 and, with over 197 member states, it works in over 130 countries worldwide.

Conducing research, providing technical assistance to projects, operating educational and training programs, and collecting data on agricultural output, production, and development are some of the ways of working of the FAO.

By following the Strategic Framework 2022-31, FAO seeks to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
