The Rising Year of E-commerce

12/30/2022

2022, a new year of consolidation for e-commerce

The worst moment of the coronavirus pandemic, with the preventive and mandatory social isolation, turned out to be an important push for the rise of electronic commerce, due to the closure of the vast majority of physical stores. And, two years later, the trend continues and the modality is increasingly used.

That is why an important part of the commercial sector looked for a way to adapt to the current times. Thus, the head of the San Justo Merchants Center, Daniel Dauria, said that the phenomenon reached the main town of the Party: “In the post-pandemic, we all learned to manage ecommerce channels because of the need to survive.”

He added that, businesses had the adapt to this innovation or they would loose clients, “most of the stores have a virtual sales channel” “We have a spectrum of shops with websites, which channel virtual sales there, but most use social networks and their virtual store in Mercado Libre".

Another important issue is that, due to the high inflation rates that characterized this year, with an annual number that would exceed 90 percent, social networks and platforms such as Mercado Libre became some of the main options when looking for low prices or promotions.

The Rise of CyberMonday

As if this were not enough, the last edition of CyberMonday, the proposal of the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE) that took place in the last days of October, had the participation of 1,050 brands. And, on its first day, it registered a turnover of more than 1.3 billion pesos, that is, 105 percent more than in 2021.
