A jury, made up of chefs, sensory analysis specialists, journalists and specialized influencers chose the best alfajor in the world as well as the winners of gold, silver and bronze medals, in addition to a special mention for the Best SME Alfajor.
The selection methodology was through a blind tasting, where the jury established the score according to a guide of established sensory characteristics.
The first place for Best Alfajor (mini-cakes) was for ¨Miracles from Heaven¨, Liqueur Chocolate Mousse Alfajor. Mar del Plata, Argentina. Tehay got the recognition for elaborating the best alfajor in the world.
Other categories such as Best Aroma of Alfajor had international competitors among the winners. First place was for "1823 Alfajores de Tandil", dulce de leche alfajor with coffee with semi-dark chocolate coating, from Argentina. Silver medal for "Brother Argentine Flavors", alfajor recheado with doce de leite and medium bitter chocolate flavor topping form Brazil, and the third place went to "YPF Full", alfajor stuffed with chocolate mousse with chocolate topping, locals.
Another category that was judged was Best Packaging, which had as winners "Memorable", Patagonian alfajor de sauco, from Argentina, in second place another local competitor ¨Gluten-Free Dantelli", TACC-free alfajor with semi-bitter chocolate bath filled with hazelnut paste, suitable for vegans. And with the bronze medal "Sweet Delicacy", alfajor stuffed with dulce de leche bathed with dark chocolate, from Paraguay.
The las category, Best Cornstarch Alfajor, got a golden medal from a country of the northern part of America ¨Gennaro's Artisanal Alfajores¨, from Canada, owned this place, followed by "MC Alfajores", cornstarch alfajor with dulce de leche, from Argentina, same country but third place for "The Alfajorers Village¨, alfajor de maicena. And there was a Special Mention Best SME Alfajor for "Alfajores Cuatro de Julia" from Uruguay.
