The World Customs Organization (WCO) was established in 1952 under the name of Customs Co-operation Council (CCC). It is an independent intergovernmental organism, headquartered in Brussels, and its mission is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Customs administrations.

Nowadays, the WCO consists of 183 Customs administrations across the world that process, all together, approximately 98% of the world trade. The World Customs Organization (WCO), being  the global centre of customs expertise, is the only organization with competence in Customs matters and can rightly be awarded with the title of the voice of the international Customs community.

Vision

The WCO plays a leading role in the discussion, development, promotion and implementation of modern customs systems and procedures. It answers to its members needs and their strategic environment.

Mission

The World Customs Organization develops international standards, fosters cooperation and builds capacity to facilitate legitimate trade, to secure fair revenue collection and to protect society, providing leadership, guidance and support to Customs administrations.
