Our history and that of the valley have been linked for more than 165 years. In 1850, a decade after the founding of Cafayate, Flavio Niño y Plazaola decided to start the wine-growing activity in this remote point of the map. At that time, when the region was not even a project of what it would become, this visionary implanted his first white vines there. Entered the twentieth century, more precisely in 1938, Arnaldo Benito Etchart acquired this winery that belonged to the family of his wife, Carmen Rosa, and began the development process that has led it to become what it is today: one of the most prestigious in Argentina. Bodegas Etchart is the oldest wine establishment in operation in the valley and one of the longest in the country: a true synonym of Cafayate and its high altitude wines.
