The Ibero-American Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Services (AICO) is an international, private, non-governmental, collective, voluntary and non-profitable organization that associates and represents the main chambers of commerce, associations, cooperatives and related Spanish or Portuguese speaking entities. It consists of 23 countries from Latin America, the Caribbean, the Iberian Peninsula and Hispanic communities from the United States.
History
AICO emerged from the collective and voluntary will of Ibero-American businessmen, who saw the need to be represented before the international community. Thus, in November 1974, the First Meeting of Ibero-American Chambers of Commerce was convened in Mexico City, where it was specifically proposed the creation of an Association that would bring together all the Chambers and Associations of Commerce existing in Ibero-America. This purpose was crystallized in Spain in June 1975, when it was formally established the Ibero-Amercian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Services (AICO).
Once the Association was inaugurated, it has held its Assemblies uninterruptedly, rotating its Headquarters in the capitals of the countries whose Chambers of Commerce are members.
Objectives
In particular, AICO has the objective of the fulfillment and development of the following activities:
