La Mascota vineyards, located at the foot of the Andes Mountain Range, just a few thousand meters from the Mendoza River, receive the fresh breezes that descend from the mountain and arrive from the river. This generates a marked thermal amplitude between day and night. The soil is predominantly alluvial and clay-loam, and rocks are found at a depth of 60 cm.
Of the 100 hectares that make up the estate, 97 are planted with grapes. The main varieties produced are Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, among the reds; and Chardonnay among the whites. The oldest wine is a batch of Cabernet Sauvignon that was harvested 41 years ago. The average age of the vineyards is 30 years; the newest plots are 5 years old and the oldest were planted in the 70s.
