Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Marketers of Cereals and Oilseeds (CAPECO)

The Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Marketers of Cereals and Oilseeds (CAPECO) is a non-profit, trade union entity, founded on February 1980. It represents the producers, exporters and marketers of cereals and oilseeds in the country, having as members the main agricultural cooperatives, national and multinational export companies, as well as the grain processing industry.

Their objective is to represent the chain of production and marketing of grains and oilseeds in Paraguay; assume with a transcendent leading role of defense of their interests through efficient management, carried out in a professional and reliable way within a broad framework of cooperation and team work, as an example of sharing benefit association actions, among competitors, as well as, find and define consensus solutions to the problems posed by their partners.


Main functions

  • Programmes support to disseminate the "No-tillage" through crop rotation and the use of green manure for the recovery of soils for cereal and oilseeds.
  • Development of research support programs with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and international organizations, for the improvement of seeds, grain quality (Agreement with the Canadian Grain Commission), soil fertilization, control of diseases affecting the soy (soybean rust) and improvement of winter crops (wheat).
  • Preparation of financing programs for agricultural items in the sector through negotiations with the national authorities for the use of credit lines of public and private banks, influencing economic, tax and sectorial policies through an active union participation.
  • Fully cooperate in the care and development of the interests of the associates, exercising legal representation in negotiations of collective benefit before any level.
  • Search for new markets for grains and their derivatives of the industry, in the system soybean, wheat, corn and sunflower.
  • Negotiate preferential access to markets in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • To promote permanently the fluidity in transport, both road, river and rail, through the analysis of the situation of the export corridors.
  • Simplification and streamlining of export procedures at the border in order to help reduce export costs.
  • Accompany its associates, when they require it, in the negotiations of freight rates, both for road and river transport.
